Sweet Corn Snacks

Dear All

We often must have noticed outside super markets and shopping malls, a counter selling Sweet corn. But somehow whenever I have eaten it I have found it very very bland. So I rediscovered it with little twist to it and converted into a better snack. Its healthy, fast, and the childern eat without making a fuss. Its the best substitute for Maggi .By the way Sweet Corn packets are available in the shopping malls.  We require Oregano flakes for this recipe...you don't have to buy ...you get it free with your Branded Pizzas...

Not the ingredients...

Sweet Corn Snacks

Sweet Corn, Chopped Onions,Butter,Red Chilli Powder, Black Pepper Powder,Chopped Tomatoes, Chopped Capsicum,Oregano flakes,Salt .

Heat butter in a pan, add the Chopped Onions, Chopped Capsicum{cook in low steam},once the onions are a bit brown  add the Chopped Tomatoes {cook}.Now add a pinch of Red Chilli  Powderand Black Pepper  Powder, {cook},now add the Sweet Corn and mix well, sprinkle Salt and put cover {cook in low steam}Wait for 1minute .Remove the cover and mix once again.Add the Oregano flakes.
Now if you are like me and have a craving for excessive butter you can add a little more and take it off immediately.

You can sprinkle Chaat Masala Powder and squeeze lemon for a tangy taste or else you can simple serve it .
Its little fatty but healthy snack for your kids.

Pudina Arahar Dal

Dear All

For those of you who might not know but Pudina {Mint}has lot of medicinal values. And so atlist once in a while you need to have it.Usually we make pudina chutneys and now and then add to curries. But here's what pudina can do to a boring dal. Here's a way to make your boring dal interesting.

Kindly note the ingridients

Pudina Dal

Arahar dal , Water ,Haldhi ,Salt, Sliced Chillies, Whole Dhaniya Seeds , Pudina Leaves,Curry leaves,Black Mustard.

Boil the dal in salt and haldhi......1

Make a paste of  Pudina and water.....2

Heat oil in a pan.Put the whole Dhaniya seeds, Curry Leaves ,Black Mustards ,Sliced Chillies {cook},add 2
and put Haldhi Powder,Salt {cook}in low steam and put cover for 10 secs.Remove the cover and pour in 1, mix the whole thing and put a bit of water.Put the cover and let the whole thing boil.

I will like to note one thing the consistency of the Dal entirely depends on the individual so if you want it thick don't add excessive water .
But I have always cooked it little gravy as my husband likes thick dal.

Once the whole thing is done add just one squeeze  remember just one squeeze of lemon.

Have it with rice only. Its not that its a great recipe but a twist to the boring dal....
